Air emissions management

We seek to reduce emissions through capital investment and operational improvements.

Aramco monitors its air emissions and, where necessary, implements measures to reduce their impact on our workforce, local communities, and the environment.

Sulfur oxides (Sox) emissions

We are leveraging tail gas treatment units to support our compliance with applicable SOx regulations.

In 2024, Aramco’s sulfur oxides (SOx) emissions were 145.3 metric kilotons — a slight decrease compared to 2023, due to improved sulfur recovery and fuel efficiency.

Nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions

Nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions from our operations primarily result from the combustion of hydrocarbon fuels used for generating electric power and heating in our facilities.

Our corporate environmental standards, along with national environmental regulatory standards, establish the limits on NOx emissions, and, to ensure compliance with the Kingdom’s regulations, during 2024, we initiated upgrade projects to install low and ultra-low NOx burners.
