Acting Service Line Head of Finance, Strategy and Development

Ziad Thamer Al-Murshed was appointed Acting Service Line Head of Finance, Strategy and Development on July 1, 2021.

In this role, he oversees Aramco’s strategy, corporate planning, performance management, treasury, finance, accounting, reporting, investor relations, and internal controls.

Mr. Al-Murshed joined Saudi Aramco in 1991, starting his career in Exploration and Producing before moving to Downstream. He has held a number of senior leadership positions across the company, including Vice President of Fuels and Lubricants, Vice President of International Operations, Vice President of Downstream Growth and Integration, and Executive Director of New Business Development. In addition, he has previously worked as General Manager of Transaction Development, Director of Strategic Planning, Director of Economic & Energy Analysis, and Manager of Yanbu’ NGL Fractionation Plant.

He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), S-Oil Corporation in South Korea, Motiva Enterprises LLC in the U.S., Aramco Trading Company, Aramco Chemicals Company, Aramco Services Company in the U.S., and Saudi Refining, Inc. in the U.S. He also serves as the Chairman of the Boards of Tas'helat Marketing Company, Aramco Lubricants and Retail Company (Alure), and Saudi Aramco Asia Company.

Previously, Mr. Al-Murshed served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship Center (Wa’ed), Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Industrialization & Energy Services Company (TAQA), and a member of the Boards of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), the Sadara Chemical Company, and the Saudi Arabian Industrial Investment Company (DUSSUR). He also served as a member of the Shareholder Committee of Arlanxeo Holding B.V., and as a member of the Board of Managers of the International Maritime Industries Company.

Mr. Al-Murshed earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University, and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is also a graduate of the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
