Sustainability governance

Our governance

Sustainability is a critical driver of how we create lasting social, environmental, and economic value, both for our business and for our stakeholders. This propels us to adapt to the environmental and social issues that affect our company and its commercial success.

A strong corporate and sustainability governance model supports a disciplined approach, ensuring accountability and transparency at all levels internally. It also allows us to measure performance across the organization, while aligning sustainability targets with our business goals.

Our aim is to drive integration of sustainability into our operations and our long-term business strategy. This strategy, with Board alignment, streamlines decision-making, provides clear understanding of responsibilities, and sets out clear action on key topics.

The Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC) is led by the Senior Vice President for Technical Services and is comprised of Saudi Aramco executives in charge of Business Lines and Administrative Areas from across the Company. It is a corporate committee responsible for ensuring that sustainability issues are appropriately identified and managed, in order to maximize long-term value creation across the Aramco Group of companies.

The SSC takes on a governance role as it oversees implementation of sustainability related initiatives at Saudi Aramco.

The SSC also drives internal alignment and supports external stakeholder engagement and reporting. This governance structure enables management of key cross-business/functional topics, with full understanding and alignment of corporate sustainability for strategy development.
