The writer who caught the clouds

See how Ali brings stories to life.

Meet Ali

Ali Sulais grew up listening to his grandmother’s stories, and learned to love the art of crafting a narrative.

He published his first novel as a teenager, and then joined the iRead competition hosted by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, Ithra.

Now an author of several books, as well as a Doctor of Psychiatry, Ali has served as a judge for the competition and gives back to the community that Ithra helped create.

iRead Program at The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra)

Every year, Aramco hosts the iRead competition, an annual contest that happens at Ithra, formally known as the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture.

Each year since its inception in 2013, primary, elementary, secondary, and university students apply to iRead, vying for the coveted “Reader of the Year” title.

Ithra’s iRead competition is expected to reach more than 200,000 students by 2022, with a focus on creating a love for reading, creative writing, research, and critical thinking.
